Mexican production company EndemolShine Boomdog has appointed award-winning writer, director, and showrunner Jaime Escallón-Buraglia as its new Executive Director of Development.
The announcement was made by Frank Scheuermann, Chief Content Officer of the Banijay Americas-owned production company.
Escallón-Buraglia’s arrival follows his recent collaboration on the hit series Los 50, the Banijay format adaptation (Les Cinquante) for Telemundo, where he served as showrunner.
Born in Canada and raised in Colombia, Escallón-Buraglia has a long track record producing, writing, and directing films, series, unscripted shows, and more than 100 documentaries—including the Emmy-winning documentary The Cancer Dancer for Discovery.
“I’ve worked closely with Jaime for many years and consider him one of the most talented and respected executives and producers in our field. We’re thrilled to have him now leading all of our unscripted development at EndemolShine Boomdog,” said Scheuermann, to whom Escallón-Buraglia will report.
“He’s done an amazing job overseeing productions like Los 50 for us, and I’m excited to share with the market some of the new projects we’ve developed this year,” he added.
Escallón-Buraglia shared:
“Coming from the world of independent production, I’m excited to join EndemolShine Boomdog, a regional leader in unscripted content. The company combines the strength of a global network with a focus on innovative, locally authentic stories that truly connect with audiences. We’re committed to breaking boundaries and taking bold creative risks to develop the next wave of hit formats in our region.”
EndemolShine Boomdog is behind many of the most successful unscripted shows in Mexico and the U.S. Hispanic market, including La Casa de los Famosos, ¿Quién es la Máscara?, Me Caigo de Risa, MasterChef, and Los 50.
The company also produces scripted content, such as the recent high-end production Como Agua Para Chocolate for Max, which was recently renewed for a second season.
As part of its efforts to strengthen its scripted operations, EndemolShine Boomdog launched a joint venture at Content Americas with Brazilian studio A Fábrica (also part of Banijay), named A Fábrica México & U.S. Hispanic, focused on producing Spanish-language scripted content.
